"The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;"
EQ NOTE
Wordsworth noticed how easily the demands of the world can occupy our attention until little space remains for wonder. More than two centuries later, that feeling is familiar: a day can fill with tasks, messages, and obligations before we have had a chance to notice where we are.
His lines are not asking us to abandon responsibility. They invite us to consider what gets crowded out when activity becomes the measure of a day. A small pause may not change our schedule, but it can change our relationship to it.
