Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.
EQ NOTE
Belonging becomes difficult when we believe we must present one consistent, easily explained version of ourselves. Whitman makes room for contradiction. We can change our minds without becoming false, and we can be unfinished without becoming unknowable. A person is larger than a single label or mood. Sometimes feeling at home begins with allowing ourselves the complexity we readily accept in everyone else.
What part of yourself could use a little more room?
