What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult to each other? I cannot be indifferent to the troubles of a man who advised me in my trouble, and attended me in my illness.
EQ NOTE
One of the quietest forms of love is making life a little less difficult for someone else. Eliot’s question is not asking us to rescue anyone or carry what is not ours. It points toward the relief another person can create simply by being considerate. Often what stays with us is the feeling that someone noticed the weight we were carrying and chose not to add to it.
Whose day could you make a little easier?
